Call for Papers / Information about conference

Association of Celtic Students of Ireland and Britain ~ Inaugural Conference, Edinburgh 16th March 2013.

Information and Call for Papers.

The conference will be held in the department of Celtic and Scottish Studies at the University of Edinburgh on Saturday 16 March 2013. The Association has been set up to promote academic and social connections between undergraduate and postgraduate students of Celtic Studies (including those whose courses are specifically Irish, Welsh or Scottish Gaelic etc.), and is currently led by a provisional steering committee (see below). The first permanent committee will be elected at the AGM to be held as part of the inaugural conference. So far the Association and the conference have aroused considerable interest among students in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England, and we hope that the event will be a great success and that it will move to other universities in future years.

Call for papers.

We invite proposals on any topic in Celtic, including language and linguistics, literature, history, folklore etc. Papers should be approximately 15 minutes long; there will also be a poster session. Please send abstracts of between 50 and 200 words to celtic.students.assoc@gmail.com. This address can also be used to ask us for further information about any aspect of the conference or the Association. If you have never given a paper before, this is a good opportunity to do so in a supportive environment where you will receive helpful feedback and encouragement. Your topic may be a work in progress or based on class work you have done at your home university.

The deadline for the call for papers is 27th February 2013.
